Robert Bonawitz is an award winning artist living and raised in Minnesota near the Mississippi River, the lush summers, crisp falls, cold white winters, and milky spring skies are home to him. His lifetime of continuous study and passion led him like a bee to honey to the difficult but rewarding discipline of plein air painting.
An artist with a variety of interests Robert is well schooled in several types of painting disciplines and he is an accomplished plein air painter, impressionist landscape painter, portrait, and figure and fresco painter. For five years he studied under Richard Lack at the Atelier Lack in Minneapolis and was presented with two gold medals for figure work before he completed the program.
He has participated in several national invitational shows including Laguna Plein Air Painters “The Best of Plein Air Show”, The American Impressionists Society’s International Juried Exhibition, Red Wing regional juried event and show "En Plein Air", Paint America’s National “Paint the Parks” Top 100 and Top Second 100, Richeson 75 and others.
The artist work is represented by Red Wing Art Depot in Red Wing Minnesota and The Frameworks and Padden Hair Studio in St. Paul, Minnesota.
